The Final Jump Home

MB and I are both ready to get home. We are a few miles from Charlestown as I write this, but we have decided to jump offshore tomorrow (Wed May 17) and go straight to Beaufort Inlet in NC. We should get there in about two days and the conditions offshore look pretty calm with light winds, so we are just going to go for it. We’ll fuel up at a nearby marina, head out through Charleston’s inlet, and turn to the North! We know we will quickly wish we were back on the water after we actually get home, but right now being home is appealing to both of us. We originally planned to spend a day or two here in Charleston, but there’s no safe place to anchor near town (too much current), the marinas are full, and we’re ready to get moving toward home anyway. We may stop at one of our favorite NC anchorages on the way home, Cape Lookout.

We’ll post another one or two blogs and we promise to post lots of pictures when we get home to real internet, so the blog will be active for a bit longer.

We sure appreciate your interest in our adventure and your thoughts and prayers. It’s really nice to know that our friends and family have been there for us even though we have been in faraway lands (well, not really that far away).

We’re looking forward to seeing you all!

Love,

David and Mary Beth
